My eBook, Standing Out in a Popular Blogging Niche is now available on Amazon Kindle for $2.99.  Where I share everything I did during my first year (and today) to manage and promote my blog, build a great community, and attract major brands.

I started blogging in 2009 and learned a lot that helped me propel Keep the Tail Wagging into a blog that partners with major brands such as Petco, Petsmart, and Halo Pets in less than a year.  I was a speaker in a Break Out session for new bloggers at the Las Vegas Bloggy Boot Camp!  Plus I spoke at BlogPaws 2013 and to local groups here in the Seattle area.

If you’re a bloggers, you probably feel overwhelmed at times and I get it.  I recommend the following resources that offer easy blogging tips and have been a tremendous help to me!

Are You New to WordPress?

There are tons of books out there on blogging and WordPress, but the absolute best book on the subject, one that I think every blogger should buy (and for $2.99, why not?) is WordPress Websites Step-by-Step – The Complete Beginner’s Guide to Creating a Website or Blog With WordPress.  I was blown away when I read this book.  And a little ticked off, because I could have really used it in 2010 when I converted to WordPress.  It takes you from chosing a domain, selecting a host company, downloading WordPress, your theme, your plugins, and blogging!  It’s truly an all in one book and even I learned something.

Another great book that I think you should order too, especially if you’re new to blogging or struggling, is The Blogger’s Survival Guide: Tips and Tricks for Parent Bloggers, Wordsmiths and Enthusiasts.  This book is written by a blogger who paid her dues and learned a lot about blogging and social media and this is a great book to help you start or jump start your blog.  And don’t forget to pick up my ebook, Standing Out in a Popular Blogging Niche.

How I Landed a Feature in Women’s Day and more…

In the first year of my blog, I was able to pitch the media successfully and this landed me in  Women’s Day magazine and Dog Fancy magazine.  If you’d like to push your blog to the next level, you need to get the media’s attention and Lisa Cash Hanson has created an amazing program called Pitch the Media Like a Pro that will get you there.

Monetizing Your Blog…

If you want to monetize your blog, but you’re not sure where to start, then another product by Lisa Cash Hanson will get you going.  Get Famous: The Greatest Resource for Mom Bloggers on the Planet isn’t just for Mommy Bloggers.  I reference this book all the time and Lisa has been instrumental in helping me figure out how to best monetize my blog.

Pinterest is #3 in the list of sites referring traffic to my blog and I don’t spend a lot of time there.  I heard on a podcast that  Pinterest refers more traffic than Facebook and Twitter combined; making it a power house.  If you want to learn how to leverage Pinterest for your blog or business, check out…

These are two affordable resources that are easy to follow and understand that will help you promote your blog on a powerful social media site.

WordPress Plug-Ins

Have you noticed that cool pull out on the lower right?  This is a premium plugin that is great for list building and you should be building a list! You don’t want to blow up in blogging and have to start list building from scratch!  The plugin is called Covert Messenger and you can change the size, color (limited options), and message – linking to your newsletter list, a sales page on your site, or any other option.
