My mom loves to tell the story to anyone who will listen that if she came home and found a dog in our house, she knew we had a new dog if I’d already named it.  My first dog was Sheila – she was stolen from our yard and I still think that there is a special place in hell for the person who would still a little girl’s puppy.  To help me get over Sheila, a friend of my mom (Fred) surprised me with Jackson Joel Stripe Morris Barnes.  I still remember the look on the vets face as I stood on tippy toes to see him over the counter and spelled Jackson’s long name.

In my own way, I’ve been rescuing dogs since I was 8 years old.  I remember yelling at a man who came to pick up his lost dog from our house “if you were a good dog owner, he wouldn’t have been lost!”  My mom will never let me forget that day and I’ll never forget the look of shock on the guys’ face.

Keep the Tail Wagging is my dream come true and I discovered PeaChic, a site that awards $500 business grants for women each season (Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring), which will help build upon my dream.

Yesterday, I received an email that the Top 20 potential grant recipients had been chosen and I screamed when I saw that my name was on the list.

PeaChic wants people to Vote for their Favorite Grant Applicant!  I submitted Keep the Tail Wagging, because it’s a business I’m growing that supports dog rescue and educating people about responsible breeding.  I want to…

Build a community of dog and animal lovers that can’t be ignored.
I want to change how people perceive and treat animals.
I want to create a vote loud enough and with enough influence that the pet industry cannot ignore us.

I would appreciate if you would vote for KEEP THE TAIL WAGGING.  And please share this with your friends.  I can’t make these changes without you!  Thank you!

Done! (You are in the lead by 1% – a nail-biter!) What a wonderful opportunity and vision you have.

Btw, I was (and still am) the same way with taking in stray cats. Heaven forbid I should name them…. :)

    Good luck!
