Happy Belated Valentine’s Day.  Dogbook conducted a survey and this question (and the subsequent responses) cracked me up, because it’s so true!

Dogbook surveyed 1,022 people in the last 12 hours and 82.6% said they love their dog more than their spouse. 17.4 % chose spouse.

I’m so excited!!!!

I’m finally going to start writing the book that I’ve been thinking about since we brought our littermates home.  This will be a mixed breed dog book written in the style of the dog breed books we see in the store (and I bet many dog lovers out there have at home).  I’m writing this book to celebrate dogs and dog rescue and to give our mutts some props.

But even the pure bred dogs deserve some love and if you’re a Keep the Tail Wagging fan and the dog parent to a pure breed, then I want to include your pup too.  Many of our pure breeds started out as a mixture of something making them mutts too!

There are two things I want to announce today!

ONE – You can submit your dog through the Google Form I created found at the below link – don’t forget to submit an image (email to kimberly@keepthetailwagging.com), I need one that shows your dog’s features (preferably standing or sitting, and alone).  I know pictures of sleeping dogs are soooo cute, but we want people to be able to say “that looks like my dog, maybe he’s a Border Collie mix”:

TWO – I’m hosting a contest during the month of February where YOU can help me pick a name for the new mixed breed dog book and Petco has generously offered to sponsor this giveaway.  The person who creates the title that I choose for the book will win a great give basket of Petco WholePets items similar to the one I received, but better!

Jaffrey and Cosmo are taking a break this week so I’m writing the Cats vs Dogs column.  The other day, Cosmo did me the solid of putting a quarter of his cat hair on my favorite sweater.  I was in a hurry and determined to wear this sweater, so I knelt on the ground to pull the hair off only to have Cosmo finish off the sleeve by rolling over it and Jaffrey take care of my black pants (cat hair magnet).  How a mostly black cat can manage to get only white hair on black pants is a mystery to me.

I gave up and thanked my kitties for giving me a little bit of home to take to work with me.  My arrogant felines excited my closet without another meow.  I shrugged and thought, it’s better than taking our dogs muddy paws prints to work with me.

Each of my kids have four legs…

I’m an animal lover through and through.  I would have loved to have had children, but a divorce stalled my mommy plans and I ended up on the road to becoming The Fur Mom (my Twitter handle).  Even though I don’t have human kids, I still adore children and have a soft spot for little girls, so when Kidz Entertainment sent me a box of goodies, I couldn’t wait to show them off.

When Mother and The Dutch Man fostered their first dog, Morgan, Mother got a kick out of dressing him up.  I watched, appalled, as this little dog allowed her to put him in t-shirts, jackets, and sweaters.  He actually seemed to enjoy it.  I turned to Cosmo and growled.  Cosmo responded “we’re next.”

Morgan has left our home and Mother hasn’t played dress up with us, yet.  She has been chattering with The Dutch Man about “outfits” as she stares at her notebook while some wicked guy named Google sends her image after image that causes her to trill “isn’t this cuuuttteeeeeee????”

I thought my new found respect for The Dutch Man (he agrees that Slumber Party Sleepover Night isn’t a great idea) would be solidified when he laughed off her idea of dressing us – but that traitor actually thinks it’ll be hilarious to see us dressed up.  I wonder if he thinks the present I plan to leave in his shoe hilarious.  Yes, laugh it up Dutch Man.

Fortunately for us, Mother saw through The Dutch Man’s glee too and decided to spare us the humiliation of Halloween costumes this year.  The slobbering dogs weren’t so lucky…looks like in this battle of Cats vs Dogs, cats win again.

I took this picture when we were doing the inspection on our home.  This is the previous owner’s dog and he was such an absolute sweetie.

When I first started blogging, I wanted to be a pet photographer.  My favorite photographers are Julie of Bailey and Banjo and Julie of Julie Austin Photography.  Today, I only take pictures of our pets and I love it!  If you’d like to  take better pictures of your pets, then you’ll love Pet Photography 101.  I’ve searched for a long time for pet photography books and was surprised to only find one that I love.  I thought I’d fill a bookcase.

Our dogs are amazing.  It’s all in their eyes and their easy acceptance of us.  Just look at that face!  Earlier this month, someone said something really nasty to me on Facebook.  It hurt my feelings and I decided to go for a walk.  I just wanted to be alone.  The dogs saw me leaving and chased after me before my boyfriend could stop them.  I sat down with them sitting against me and they took it all the way.  They have a way of taking all the frustrations, hurt, and anger away.
