Commenting Guidelines for Keep the Tail Wagging

One of the many reasons I launched Keep the Tail Wagging was to start a discussion.  Although Keep the Tail Wagging has grown into a community of like-minded dog lovers, I don't expect everyone to agree with me all the time.  That being said, I thought commenting guidelines would help us stay on track with spirited, fun conversations.

Please Use Your Name

If you're going to comment on Keep the Tail Wagging, I ask that you use your name.  If you have something to say that's contributing to the conversation and will help us learn something new, consider a new point of view, or just give us a smile – I want to know who to credit for that enlightening comment.  I know that it can be intimidating, because some people aren't very kind, so you will be tempted to use a pseudonym, but trust that I protect my readers.  No one will be allowed to attack you in this space.

Please Be Respectful

It's not a requirement that you agree with me or anyone who comments on Keep the Tail Wagging.  But I do ask that you be respectful.  Attacking, bullying, and slander are not welcome in this forum and you will be permanently banned from commenting on this blog and participating on any social networking pages owned by Kimberly Gauthier and Keep the Tail Wagging.  Treat others how you want to be treated.  And remember, no one changes their mind after being attacked verbally about their point of view.

Please Contribute Value, Not Sales Pitches

Make sure your comment is adding value.  If you've come strictly to attack me or others, your comments will be delete and you will be banned.  Please avoid repeating yourself.  Once you've made your point, please don't repeated over and over again.  We hear you. Sometimes we'll have to agree to disagree; so if we're not hearing each other, let's just move on and respect that we come from different walks of life, different experiences, and have different points of view.

If you want to inform me or my readers about a product, please make it relevant to the blog post and please do not post a sales pitch (or mini commercial) in the comments.  That will be deleted.

Please Be Brave, I Want to Hear Your Thoughts

Another reason I started this blog was to learn how to raise healthy dogs.  When I adopted Rodrigo and Sydney, I had no idea what I was doing.  I count on other well-meaning dog owners to help me out.  We may not agree, but I will not attack anyone nor will I tolerate someone being attacked on my blog.  If you believe Purina rocks, then I will respect your opinion.  If you think raw feeding is terrible, then say so, respectfully.  I welcome all points of view, because I believe that is the only way that we can learn.  If you're afraid to share your thoughts, then I'm not doing a good job creating a safe place and I need to know that, so tell me.  You can email me anytime at kimberly@keepthetailwagging.com or through the Contact Page.

Please Be Patient

If you are new to commenting (or if WordPress is feeling a little bossy), your comment may land in moderation.  You are not being blocked or censored.  I work a full time job and I'm not always able to immediately approve/publish comments, but yours will be approved within 12 hours (mostly within 2 hours).  Thanks for understanding.

And thanks for visiting my blog!
