I approached the dog lover world, asking everyone to submit their favorite homemade dog food recipe, so it was just a matter of time before someone submitted the one I make for our littermate puppies.  I use chicken thighs and carrots, but I’m going to shake it up next time thanks to Kris’ recommendation…

Homemade Dog Food Recipe – Crock Pot Chicken (hint: our dogs loved this!)

5-6 lbs of chicken thighs/quarters/drumsticks

1.5 cups of water and 2 lbs of yams or carrots or sweet potatoes

Cook in crockpot for 6 hours

Drain about half the broth, remove the bones and mix thoroughly (Kimberly note: be sure to remove all bones before mixing in other ingredients, because the drumsticks have teeny parts that you can miss otherwise)

Cook a 2lb bag of brown rice and mix with all or half of the cooked chicken/vegetable mixture

Feed mixed with high quality kibble

This homemade dog food recipe was shared by Kris Keppeler, KK Aria Enterprises, who has  two very healthly blue heeler mixes on this diet.

I’ve got to try this one for my doggie. I’m sure she’s gonna love it. She always love to eat chicken and everything, I guess. Thanks for the recipe!

      Fantastic, Gail
Thanks for stopping by. My dogs are crazy for chicken and I found that they do best on this recipe when I blend the ingredients and then mix with the chicken. Otherwise, they only seem to digest the chicken.

Let me know how your dog likes her meal!
