Homemade Dog Food Recipes: Banapple Doggie Treats
3 Cups of Whole Wheat Flour
5 Cups of Steel Cut Oatmeal
1 Tsp Baking Powder
3 Tbl Honey
1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
2/3 Cup Peanut Butter
1 1/2 Cup Apple Sauce
1 Cup Banana (mashed)
2 Tbls Vegetable Oil (I prefer olive oil)
1 Cup Water (room temperature is best)
Preheat oven to 350.
In large bowl, mix dry ingredients together. Slowly add in wet ingredients and continue to mix well. I find it’s easier to get my hands dirty and mix it all up with my hands. Once all ingredients are well blended and batter is smooth, roll the cookie dough flat on a lightly floured surface. Roll to 1/2 inch thickness. Use cookie cutters to cut out any shape or size you desire. Place cookies on greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes, or until cookies are golden brown.
If you don’t want to roll out the dough, you can do drop cookies instead. Simply put a spoonful of dough on a greased cookie sheet and press down with a fork or spook to flatten down to 1/2 inch circular cookies.
Cool and serve.
Suggestion size differs based on the size of your dog. Please remember that these are treats and are not meant to be used as dog food to replace a full meal.
