When it comes to joint care for dogs, one thing I believe is that most of the joint supplements for dogs out there contain many of the same ingredients, but it’s the amount and quality of those ingredients combined with our dog’s needs that will determine if the joint supplement will work for our dog.

As I stated in my first post about Natural Stride, we tried many joint supplements for dogs before finding one that worked for my dog.  Although we’re happy with the supplement we use, I think it’s a great idea for families to have at least two go to supplements for their dogs.  Just like humans, their bodies change and who knows when one may not work as well and we may need to switch them to another.  Who wants to go through the process of finding a new supplement – why not already have one ready when your dog is ready?

What makes Natural Stride Work?

When I went to check out the active ingredients, my brain started swimming as I scrolled down, trying to pronounce all the words.  What I found was that the active ingredients in Natural Stride act as anti-inflammatory, relieves pain, helps to rebuild cartilage, and strengthens and lubricates joints.  Natural Stride for Dogs Ingredients – click here!

Check with your Veterinarian?

Although I’m a fan of Natural Stride based on our brief experience, I still suggest that you take it to your vet to get their input on the supplement.  I’ve found our vet’s knowledge to be invaluable and your vet can help you determine which dosage is right for your dog, because one thing I learned is that each dog is different and although the package gives serving suggestions, these are just suggestions.  A veterinarian can help you choose what’s right for your dog.

When we were trying to manage Sydney and Rodrigo’s joint pain, I was surprised to learn that I was giving them too little and our vet upped the daily dosage and it worked.

How fast does Natural Stride work?

Although dog owners should start seeing improvement after 2 to 3 weeks of use; it’s recommended that we give it a few months to really see how our dogs are doing on the supplement.  It’s nice to have this timeline so that you can mark your dog’s improvement over this period.

And if it Natural Stride doesn’t work?

Now this is the coolest thing about Natural Stride – they offer a 60 day trial period that starts when the product is shipped.  If you’re not happy, then they’re not happy and you can return the product for a full refund (less shipping and handling).  You can learn more on their website.

How much Natural Stride will we tried?

According to the Natural Stride website, one pouch ($34.95 plus shipping) will last as follows…

  • For a 25 pound dog – 120 days (4 months)
  • For a 50 pound dog – 60 days (2 months)
  • For a 75 pound dog – 40 days
  • For a 100 pound dog – 30 days
  • For a 125 pound dog – 24 days

Natural Stride recommends that we give our dogs 1 chewable daily per 50 pounds of our dog’s body weight.  In extreme cases, we can increase the dosage, but I recommend that you work with your vet to determine how much your dog needs.  The chewables are kind of hard so we microwaved them for a few seconds to soften them up and our dogs loved them.

This is pretty fantastic, because you can plan your budget around your dog’s size so that he never goes without joint care.   Learn from my example with our littermates and don’t wait to start your dog on a good joint care supplement.
