DOG FOOD
We switched from Blue Buffalo to Life’s Abundance to Halo Pets. We switched from Blue Buffalo, because I was concerned about the preservatives Switched from Life’s Abundance, because I enjoy the convenience of picking up food at the store or ordering online and I love what Halo is doing for the pet rescue community.
These can be used as food, supplements to food (like some of us use canned food), and as a treat. We use it as a supplement (to make kibble more interesting) and as a treat. It never ceases to amaze us how our 3 dogs fall into line when they know they’re about to get a taste. They love this treat and it’s healthier than giving them cookies all the time (although we still get the cookies).

DOG TREATS
So yummy that I break them up to use as training treats. The dogs even know the phrase “Casey Jones Bones,” because I love saying it.
Soft and small and smelly. The perfect trifecta for training and we’re always training. What I love is that these treats are too small that they can’t be split in half and their soft enough that the split can be done quickly so that you can give the treat right when you’ve marked the good behavior.

Our dogs’ favorite treat. We were introduced to these by our Petco dog trainer. I buy 1 pound on each trip to Petco.

Chew Treats – Try Carrots or Raw Bones
We switched from rawhide chews (too dangerous) and bully sticks (too smelly) to carrots and raw bones and our dogs love it. It satisfies their need to chew and gives me 30 minutes of peace (2 carrots each after a long walk).

Bergan Deluxe Poncho Rear Protector
These are amazing. We have two car seat covers so that we always have one while washing the other. They’re water proof and can handle muddy paws and wet dog hair beautifully. I wish we knew about these car seat covers 2 years ago. The coolest thing is that these seat covers are crazy affordable too!
We use Bright Eyes Pet Wellness for flea and tick treatment. It’s non-toxic and one 16 ounce bottle lasts us a year with three dogs. The dogs aren’t a fan of being sprayed, but the smell is pleasant and we spray each of our dogs lightly every other day and they’re doing great!
Ecofriendly dog poop bags that are delivered right to your door. What I love about Dawg Pound Bags is that they use slightly less material so not only are the bags biodegradable, we get more bags in a roll than the standard dog poop bags.
DOG TRAINING
Shannon Finch, Animal Kind Training
Shannon Finch was our life saver. We adopted litter mate puppies and we knew that we needed a trainer and thank heavens we found Shannon Finch. She trained us. We learned to read our dogs, how to talk to our dogs, and how to train our dogs and today we have two amazing dogs.
We enrolled our puppy, Blue, in a dog training. I considered working with Shannon again, but I wanted to work with Millie at Petco. We met her when we adopted our litter mates and she knows all of our dogs. In fact, Rodrigo has run into Petco (off leash) just to find Millie and say hi. They love her.
She’s amazing, patient, knowledgable, and knows a lot about dogs. Blue is the perfect dog.

KONG Toys
Most of the toys we buy for our dogs are KONG Toys simply because they stand up to our rough playing dogs. They love to tear things apart and we watch several things last less than 30 minutes when our dogs (Rodrigo) got their mouth on them. KONG toys last months in our house. I wrote an article about this amazing bed. It’s worth every penny and we love ours and are considering buying a couple more. Our dogs love the beds too. It’s adorable watching Blue, who has adopted the bed as his own, curl up in a ball for a nap on his comfortable bed.
