Mainly used for its benefits to the liver, Milk Thistle acts as both a protectant and detoxifier. It has demonstrated positive impacts like flushing out harmful toxins from medications, antibiotics, free radicals and heavy metals. By helping the body filter out unnecessary or harmful particles, Milk Thistle provides many benefits, like providing extra support for the allergic dog, supporting skin health, and boosting the normal function of other vital organs like the kidneys, pancreas, and gallbladder.

Pure, 100% organic milk thistle

Our Milk Thistle is just ground milk thistle. Simple as that!

Ingredients

Active Ingredients: Organic ground milk thistle seed

Cautions

Not to be used in pregnant pets. If animal’s condition worsens or does not improve, stop product administration and consult your veterinarian. Not for use within 48 hours of surgery or anesthesia.

  • There is approximately 3% silymarin (based on the dry weight of our Milk Thistle) per serving size (1/4 tsp).
  • A ¼ teaspoon contains 550mg of our pure, organically grown Milk Thistle
  •             (550mg = ¼ teaspoon)

  • There is approximately 3% silymarin (based on the dry weight of the product) per 1/4 tsp.
  • So, take 550 mg and multiply by .03 (the amount of our active ingredient, silymarin)
  •             550x.03=16.5

  • There would be about 16mg to 17mg of silymarin in each ¼ teaspoon.
  • ¼ teaspoon = 550mg of ground milk thistle = 16.5mg of silymarin

Directions for Use

>0 – 7lbs – 1/16 tsp twice a day (8.25mg of Silymarin per day)
8 – 14lbs – ⅛ tsp twice a day (16.5mg of Silymarin per day)
15-30 lbs – ¼ tsp twice a day (33mg of Silymarin per day)
31-80 lbs – ½ tsp twice a day (66mg of Silymarin per day)
81-120 lbs – ¾ tsp twice a day (100mg of Silymarin per day)
>120 lbs – 1 tsp twice a day (132mg of Silymarin per day)

⅛ tsp twice a day (16.5mg of Silymarin per day)

If your veterinarian recommends a smaller dose of milk thistle, those dosages are often based on milk thistle concentrated extract. Our milk thistle is whole ground seed of milk thistle and because we use the whole seed, there’s 5x more volume of powder than concentrated extract. So, while our daily recommendations are higher, there’s still a comparable amount of active ingredient (3%) needed to be effective.
