Every pet owner considers their pet to be part of their family. We bring them treats and toys, give them their own beds even though our bed becomes their bed, and we even talk to them as if they were our children. Most of us have as many pictures on our phones of our pets as we do our children, so why shouldn’t we have apps for them too? There are plenty pet related apps out for different smart phones that focus on the pets and animals in our lives. These apps help us take care of our animals, give us something to do when we are away from our pet, and make us say “aw” when we aren’t with our beloved pet.

Pet First Aid

Just as there is a first aid app for humans, there is one for our furry friends. This app has articles on different conditions and issues such as bleeding, burns, and even fractures and sprains. It also comes with helpful videos to show you how to preform different types of pet first aid, like CPR and bandaging wounds. The app also lets you put in your pet’s information so that their vaccines, medications, and even the veterinarians information all in one place. Pet First Aid can be a lifesaving app for your pet. The version of this app for Android phones only has the first aid information, and they are working on the pet information section. You can find this app for $3.99 in iTunes, and for $2.99 in Google Play.

Rate My Puppy/Rate My Pets

Rate My Puppy and Rate My Pets apps let pet owners show off their best photos of their animals. Android users can use Rate My Pet to share all of their photos with other animal lovers and rate different pets. If you have the T-Mobile Galaxy Note, you can write on and edit the pictures before posting them. After you have either written a caption, or drawn the right amount of hearts around your pet, you can upload the photo to Rate My Pets to show off your pet’s edited photo. Apple iPhone and iPad users can use the Rate My Puppy app to share photos, enter contests, and brag to their friends about their adorable puppy. If you have apps like Photoshop, you can up load edited photos like you can with the Galaxy Note, except you can’t write on them. Rate My Puppy and Rate My Pet are free apps that you can find in your app stores.

ODoggy

The ODoggy app lets you see a live video feed of your dog while you are away. Online Doggy has set up webcam systems in over 400 different doggy day cares and kennels in the United States. You can see if your pet care provider is one of the 400 by looking them up with the app or on their website. If they are, you can then subscribe for either 30 days ($1.99) or for 1 year ($4.99) and then view your pet while you are away. For the pet care providers who aren’t, you can simply ask them if they could have the ODoggy system installed. If you travel a lot and miss your pet while you are away, having this app will let you see what they are up to. Online Doggy also has webcam systems that can be set up in your home, so you can even see how they are doing while you are at work or are away for a period of time. The ODoggy app is free and available through Google Play and iTunes.

PocketFinder

The PocketFinder app works with the PocketFinder GPS device to help you find your pet if they manage to get lost. The app tracks the GPS signal of the device and sends the signal back to your phone of tablet. Simply attach the device to your pet’s collar and replace the batteries when necessary. If your pet manages to get out of the house or yard, you can follow the devices GPS signal to locate your loved one. Using the app, you can also set up a perimeter around your home and it will notify you if your pet gets out of the perimeter. The app is currently only available for iPhones and iPads. While the app is free, the device costs $149 and costs $12.95 for monthly service. However, knowing that your pet is safe is priceless.
