Throw Them to The Dogs | Dog Toys Made in the USA Get Political

I was going to wait to do this review until the political races heated up  more, but these toys are just took cool to sit on!  The creator of these wonderful toys has an Etsy store, Throw Them to The Dogs, where you can order these amazing dog toys.  What I love about them is that with every news story about the politicians, I get a chuckle at the memory of one of our dogs chewing on their head or feet.

Throw Them to the Dogs are dog toys made in the USA.  The dog toys are made from all natural ingredients, the art work is spot on, the quality is amazing.  You would think that these are being mass manufactured, but not the case.  I love my set so much that I took them back from the dogs and they now sit in a place of honor in my home office.

Well made, fun for the dogs, even more fun for the humans.

Politicians honored with a dog toy made in their likeness are:

Mitt Romney – Mitt for Mutts

Barack Obama – Bow-Wow Barack

Rick Santorum – Ruff Rick

Newt Gingrich – Old Dog, Newt Tricks

What’s cool as these are great gives for dogs and humans.  You can even give a Republic to a Republican or to a Democrat.  You can give someone all four.  These are just fun and cool gifts that any dog lover who also follows politics will get a kick out of these well made dog toys.  I took them to work (my day job) and they got a lot of attention and people were floored that I didn’t get these from some big company.  Nope, I got these from a dog lover I met online who is fast becoming a great friend.  Who doesn’t love dog lovers with a fantastic sense of humor?

When Annika contacted me about her toys, I warned her that Rodrigo tends to hoard the toys and he tries to destroy them inside of 15 minutes.  I think he’s trying to beet his personal best.  She was willing to allow her toys to be tested out on his jaws and I have to say that I sat shocked for 20 minutes while Rodrigo (on the right) just chewed on the toy and ran around with it.  He didn’t once try and tear it to pieces.  Annika sent me the picture of a dog enthusiastically pulling on Ruff Rick this weekend.

I wanted to share these with you, because they’re such a neat, clever idea.  How many people do you know who would love a Throw Them to the Dogs toy?  I can think of 6 immediately, give me a few minutes and I bet I can triple that number.

  1. HAHA, that’s too funny. Now there is a good use for politicians.

    • I know what you mean! You should see them in person. They’re amazing. I’m thinking that this fall, I’ll be giving these to friends as a gift. Everyone loves them!

  2. Hi Y’all,

I can destroy a black Kong. My Human only lets me have toys under supervision and otherwise keeps them out of my reach. Glad some dog has found something indestructible.

How y’all doin’? Just hoppin’ by to visit. Hope y’all have been enjoying a fantastic week and are enjoying your weekend!

    Y’all come by now,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

    • Wow! Hawk. I’ve heard of dogs like you who could destroy a Black Kong, but I’ve never met one before. You are Rodrigo’s hero, because although he’s great at tearing apart toys, he hasn’t managed to make a dent in any of the Kong toys.

Great job and thanks for stopping by!

  3. Hey Rodrigo, Jet here. Hi Miss Kimberly.

Nice to make your acquaintance on the Saturday hop. :)

Mom asked me to share that those toys are hysterical! What a great find!

Looking forward to getting to know you all better!

    • Thanks for stopping by, Jet!
Rodrigo, Sydney and Blue say to say “woof” – Rodrigo is a fan of the toys; I’m surprised that he didn’t tear them to pieces, but I guess he’s political.

  4. I’m so glad you love the dog toys I make! I have a GIGANTIC smile on my face!

One day when I was walking the dog I’m so lucky to know, my sweet Ella, I had this funny idea for dog toys where you’d take the politician who drives you crazy and throw him to your dog!

I decided to run with it. I’m sort of a numbers person, so to do actually make something creative that I really love is an awesome experience! I make them by hand with really good stuff: organic cotton stuffing, untreated cotton canvas fabric, non-toxic dyes, etc.

The toys are machine-washable and they can go in the dryer, but I stick to air drying so they don’t get lumpy.

Ella likes Old Dog, Newt Tricks because his big round head is puffy and soft, good for napping. She also likes Mitt for Mutts, but he’s definitely for chewing, not napping! I put peanut butter on him, spread it around real good and let her at him! I’ve thrown Ella’s Mitt for Mutts in the wash three times. He’s looking a little worse for wear, but what did I expect?

I hope you’ll take a look at the toys. I make them with love and donate 5% of the sales price to North Shore Animal League, which is the shelter on Long Island, NY where I was lucky enough to find Ella.

Thanks guys! It’s hard to put yourself out there with something you make.

Kimberly – what would I do without you?!?!

    • I’m a huge fan. I think these are amazing toys and so very timely. What a great idea and I love how you came up with the idea!
