We have three dogs and two cats. We vacuumed the carpeted areas twice a week and sweep and mop the hardwoods twice a week. This is just to keep our house from smelling like wild kingdom. But sometimes even this isn’t enough and walk into a wall of dog smell when we come home despite regular baths for the dogs and that’s when we know that it’s time to turn to professional carpet cleaning.

Having a faithful friend or two is the best companionship in the world. I know because I have had many dogs throughout my 36 years so far. We all know that from time to time they can have an accident or two on our wall to wall carpet or worse, on our really nice area rug that may or may not be a oriental wool rug.
Well let me give you some helpful information on how to treat these accidents as well as how to find the best carpet cleaning professional in your area. If you actually catch them doing it then by all means do your training and teaching them on not to do that there of course. Then promptly blot the area to soak up the urine before it penetrates the backing and makes it into the padding where it will make correcting the smell much more difficult. At this point you can apply your deodorizer of choice to the stain liberally so to saturate the whole area the urine reached. Allow proper dwell time and again blot dry thoroughly and use fans to accelerate the drying process so not to cause any molding issues.
If there is a stain, usually yellowing on lighter type carpets, you will need to locate a professional carpet cleaner in your area to properly and safely correct the discoloration of the carpet fibers which will require specialty products as well as a deep steam extraction that only a truck mounted system can give you. I suggest checking online reviews on Yelp or Angie’s list to find qualified carpet cleaners in your area with great ratings.

We only clean our carpets in the summer time so that we can leave the windows open to make sure that they dry. We made the mistake of cleaning the wrong time of year once and had to replace all of our carpet, because of mold. The floors just couldn’t dry, even with the heat on or fans aimed at the floors.
