I just received an email this morning from the PR Representative for Rescue Remedy for Pets and she’s offered to giveaway FIVE 20 oz bottles of Rescue Remedy Pets! I use this for our pets right before the Fourth of July and New Years. We live near Tulalip Reservation and Boom City, where the best, the brightest, and the loudest fireworks are sold. Our poor babies are a mess on these big nights.
We tap a little Rescue Remedy Pets on their tongue and then give them a treat and relax in front of a movie. The Rescue Remedy for Pets takes the edge off. I’ve actually tried it myself and it really does work to relieve stress.

I don’t really need to do anything to prepare my dog for the fireworks right now. When he was a baby we were sure to expose him to a large variety of things, including watching fireworks and being in thunder. He is pretty good about not getting anxiety about noises and flashes.
However, separation anxiety is another thing.

We keep our dogs inside….Question: You said you tried it???
June 26, 2012 at 3:57 pm
Yes. I dropped it on my tongue one day and it completely mellowed me out. I didn’t notice anything right away, but later something happened that normally would have chapped my hide and I gave it a shoulder shrug.
It’s bitter.

I’ve used the cream and the candy before on my thunder storm fearful lab. It takes about a half an hour to kick in but it’s a life saver! If you can get it on board before the fear kicks in it works much better and faster (15 min).

Just like before storms (if we realize one’s on the way) – we try to get Chester good and tuckered out, then set him up all comfy in our hallway between livingroom and bedrooms. With doors closed, He doesn’t have direct access or view of windows, and the area helps him to feel secure. Then it’s all a matter of comforting him, giving him as much love as we can, and hoping the boomies will end soon. I haven’t ever tried Rescue Remedy, but I’ve heard great things about it!

Didn’t know there was anything to do to prepare. Just hold them close & try to verbally soothe them.

We have 4 dogs and one especially gets terrified. My dad takes him to the basement and they watch tv so it muffles the sound.

Rescue Remedy is amazing if you can use it before the anxiety sets in. We use it a lot for thunder.

Molimo loves noise so the fireworks just intrigue her.

That is so awesome, Nancy
They scare one of our dogs and make the other two bark at the doors and windows.

I gave my little Lilly some Acepromazine as per my vet’s suggestion to help with her anxiety with fireworks. We live on a lake so you can imagine the noise. So sorry I did…..this am she was sluggish, upset, and had messed on her bed. She is 7 years old and has never had an accident in the house. We were so upset and felt so bad (and guilty) and have been holding and hugging and babying her all day. Did some resarch (should have done it before, but trusted my vet) and found out the latest research recommends Xanax or Valium but I think I will try Rescue Remedy. Lesson learned….always research before administering drugs to your fur-baby!!

Such a great tip, Susan
We were prescribed a drug a year or so ago and we gave Rodrigo just a small dosage (half of what was prescribed) and we didn’t like how spaced out our dog was and didn’t want to risk giving him a full dosage. Rescue Remedy works really well for us and really fast. There are two versions; one for humans which has alcohol and one for pets that doesn’t; you can put drops on their tongue or just add it to their water. Easy peasy
Glad you survived!

Thanks. I noticed it is sold in 10 ml and 20 ml……do you happen to know what would be appropriate for an 11 pound dog? I cannot seem to find information. I did see that some has alcohol in it which I would not buy. I may stop in at GNC today and see what they have. We are expecting more fireworks this week-end so I am doing my best to avoid an issue. She gets so terrified and we worry about how her fear might affect her….trying to protect her as best as we can!

You can just get the 10ml. It only takes a drop or two. We have three dogs and we’ve barely made a dent in a bottle we bought over a year ago.
The one with alcohol is the one for humans; so you want the one with the paw print. GNC doesn’t always have the pet version, but sometimes they do.
I’ve found it in Super Supplements (if you have one in your area).
Best of luck!

Rescue remedy sounds amazing. I have never used it before, but now that I know ow cool it is I will have to give it a shot.

I love it. I’m stunned by how well it works. Another thing that works is the Thunder Coat or an ace bandage (not too tight). But I love the rescue remedy. Get the one for pets; it doesn’t have alcohol (which is toxic to dogs).
Best of luck, Jean!!!
