The Walk In Sync Harness, A Humane Dog Walking & Training System

September 8, 2012

Dog Training, Product Reviews

We had the opportunity to try out a new product on our puppy, Blue – the Walk in Sync harness.  It’s called a humane dog walking and training system.  I call it a fantastic harness and leash that prevents pulling and magically makes our herding dog walk like a well behaved gentle-canine.

We use the harnesses that have the leash latch on the back, so our dogs walk ahead of us like horses and it’s the perfect system to encourage pulling.  The Walk in Sync harness is different.  Having a leash latch in front of the dog (on the chest) slows them down and the walk becomes more relaxed and controlled.  I walk three dogs and although they walk nicely most of the time, if they decide to pull (bicycle, cat, bird, blowing leaf) then I have no choice but to follow.  I think this harness would be wonderful for all of our dogs and a great way to start our puppy off right.

Update: Since our review, Blue has outgrown his Walk in Sync Harness and although he was still walking better than when he first joined our family, it wasn’t as smooth as with the Walk in Sync Harness.  This is a fantastic product and we’re now considering investing in two more harness sets for Blue and Rodrigo.  Sydney is a perfect walker.

There was no pulling, so no choking.  I hate when the dogs pull so much they start gagging – the judging looks I get (or I feel like I’m getting) and it can’t be good on our dogs throat.

Blue followed my lead, behaved beautifully when my boyfriend walked him, and we were sold before our first walk was over. It was night and day when compared to walking with his daily harness and we had these results without watching the raining video that you’ll receive if you order this system.

So far we tried two products like this with JD. The first one he ate before we even got to the trails. The other one keeps falling off his nose … *sigh

We tried a gentle lead (the one that goes on the nose) with Rodrigo and he hated it and I felt guilty the entire time. It did work, but every time we paused, Rodrigo would paw at his nose. The lady at the store said that he’d get used to it and then it wouldn’t bother him; he just got really good at getting out of it before we made it to the trail.

The Walk in Sync was amazing with Blue and I would have loved to try it with Rodrigo, but he’s too big.

We prefer off leash walks and since we live in a rural area, we have plenty of space to indulge; this morning we had an entire stretch of beach all to ourselves. Loved it!
