We’re Switching from Blue Buffalo to Life’s Abundance Dog Food

Update: We no longer feed our dogs Life’s Abundance dog food; click HERE to learn our reasons for switching.

Isn’t it amazing that today we treat our dogs so well.  When I was a kid, dogs were pretty much lawn ornaments.  Today, they’re truly our kids and we want to give them happy, healthy, long lives.  One way to do that is to feed them well and we’ve researched food brands, the Raw Food Diet, and I cook for them too.

The Price is Right!

We were excited to receive a generous sample (a 20 pound bag) of Life’s Abundance to try out.  Currently, we feed our dogs the Blue Wilderness brand.  A 24 pound bag runs about $50 – we buy a bag every 6 weeks.  The dogs love the new food (as you can see below) and the cost, at $36 for a 20 pound bag and $70 for a 40 pound bag, there is a cost savings too.  But is it better for our dogs?

Why Blue Buffalo?

What sold us on Blue Buffalo products was that de-boned chicken is the first thing on the ingredients list.  We switched over to the Wilderness brand, because it’s grain free and we learned that this is better for our dogs.

Why Life’s Abundance?

When I compared the two dog food brands, I learned that Life’s Abundance actually has more usable protein and I saw this after the first few days.  Our dogs’ coats were gorgeous – soft, shiny, and gorgeous.  And a week after into the new food, the dogs were still emptying out their bowls.  We’ve had to mix their other food with soft food to make it appealing.

Blue Buffalo is a great food, but it isn’t the best dog food for our dogs.  When I read the reviews from customers, I was convinced to give Life’s Abundance a chance and I’m glad that I did.

We Fur Parents Love Our Pets!

Dog People and Cat People have one thing in common – we love our pets.  Just look at how big the pet industry has become.  Doggy day cares, pet sitters, dog walkers, pet communicators, dog behaviorists, pet Reiki therapists, and restaurants catering to dogs is becoming more common.  In fact, we have several dog and pet related festivals in  Western Washington.  So I’m not surprised that dog food is getting better and better.

A friend of mine, Steven Lankford, introduced you to LA. We use it here at Tabby Town, too, and noticed a difference in our cats’ fur within days. It’s an awesome food! Glad you love it, glad your dogs love it, and glad to see you spreading the word! It could seem expensive at first to someone who’s used to buying the crap store brands, but this food is worth every penny. Our cats are healthier than they’ve ever been. We’ve decided that we’d rather spend money on the best food instead of the medical bills that we’d incur if the kitties were on byproducts and grain…. Great job, and good luck!

Hi Marie – thanks for stopping by! I’m really excited to find a food that has such a positive response from pet owners and the pets themselves. I feel fantastic knowing that I’m giving our dogs and cats the best. I would definitely rather pay a little more now than a lot more later at the vet.

Life’s Abundance rocks! My two Australian Shepherds eat a combo of Life’s Abundance and Flint River and I have them both on auto-ship so the UPS man just shows up with them every sixty days. My dogs are super-healthy, have gorgeous coats and looooove their food. Enjoying your blog!
